During the summer, I get a little lazy in the kitchen. I still love to cook but, as someone who loves the outdoors and all things nature, I tend to prioritize time outside over time in the kitchen during the warm summer months. Parts of this so-called laziness include: ordering groceries online to have delivered (minimal time in the store!), cooking meals that take less than 30 minutes to prepare (minimal time in the kitchen – okay, this one’s year-round though), and eating as many raw veggies and salads as possible (AKA avoiding turning on the oven in the summer heat).
So, now that September is coming up quickly, one thing I’m super excited about is getting back in the kitchen, in the grocery store, and back to my more usual routine. Summer, I love you, but I'm also definitely ready to get back into the grocery store again.
Since it opened a few months ago, one store I’ve been thrilled about is Whole Foods Market 365. I look for quality in all of my groceries. That’s one of the major downsides of getting groceries delivered - honestly, the quality just isn’t always there. When it comes to produce especially, I like to know that I’m buying fruits and veggies from farmers I can trust that are as seasonal and local as possible – they’re cheaper, they support my local community and they flat out taste better. At the same time, I’m also not trying to spend hundreds of dollars grocery shopping each week. I do live in New York City after all – everything else in this city is pricey enough, I’d prefer to keep my groceries somewhat in check.
Whole Foods Market 365 offers the high quality products I look for, but at a lower price. They do this by focusing on a more curated selection of products to help keep prices low, while maintaining the same quality standard as Whole Foods Market. They also make it an easy shopping experience, where you can get in and out quickly while finding everything on your list. If you live in or have visited NYC, you know that this is huge – the words “quick” and “supermarket” don’t typically go hand in hand here; the lines are always massive! Finding a store with high quality products, a low cost point, and a quick shopping experience is pretty major.
So, to commence my fall routine and back-to-the-kitchen days, I decided the perfect way to kick it off would be a trip to WFM 365. I set out to get a mix of food for meals, easy snacks and high quality produce. Read what I got below AND all for $50.07!
Here’s what I bought and why these are some of my grocery shopping favorites:
I kicked off the end of summer with this dinner – it took 30 minutes to make (most of which was in the oven!) and the prep work was almost non-existent. I paired Love the Wild Coconut Curry Salmon with Siete Foods ranch tortilla chips and quartered heirloom tomatoes drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with salt and pepper - so delicious, fresh, and cheap - this meal was everything I could possibly ask for. (Plus, huge bonus points for my husband thinking it took way longer to make than it actually did - love you, meant it WFM 365).
