Hey friends! Back with another product review and this one is good. Grainful reached out to me to try their savory oats a few weeks ago and I was super intrigued. I already love oats - they’re a whole grain packed with soluble fiber to help keep us full and healthy. But, savory oats? Now you’ve got my attention.
What They Are
Grainful makes two products – meal kits and frozen entrees. The meal kits are awesome because they make an easy, nutrient packed side dish. Grainful blends steel cut oats with a few other whole ingredients to make the most amazing flavor combos. So far, I’m loving the Homestyle Cheddar and Tomato Risotto (I mean, how amazing does that sound?!). They’re not only easy to make (literally 25 minutes in a pot and done), but are also packed with protein, fiber, and tons of flavor. Seriously, the perfect side dish.
The frozen entrees have been my lifesaver the past few weeks. Extreme, but true. You know those busy nights when the last thing you can even think about is cooking dinner when you get home? What about those nights when you can’t even think about ordering dinner? Yep, the frozen entrees are a total lifesaver.
Frozen meals usually get a bad reputation for being filled with artificial fillers, chemicals and sodium – but not these guys!! Loaded with all real ingredients, they truly make the perfect meal.
Let’s look at the Tuscan Bean and Kale:
Ingredients: Water, Kidney Beans, Garbanzo Beans, 100% Whole Grain Steel Cut Oats, Tomatoes, Kale, Tomato Paste, Onions, Garlic, Tomato Flakes, Olive Oil, Salt, Spices (check)
Nutrition: 11 grams of protein (good amount of protein), 10 grams of fiber (awesome on the fiber), 0 grams of added sugar (woohoo!), and 390 mg of sodium (not too high in sodium) (double check)
Oh, and did I mention they taste amazing?
How to Use 'Em
The frozen meals are pretty self-explanatory. They obviously are perfect on their own or, for some of the smaller ones, work well paired with a salad or piece of fruit on the side. The meal kits make the perfect side dish. Below, I paired the Tomato Risotto with seared salmon, and roasted zucchini fries. An easy, balanced, and flavorful meal – basically all I ever need in life.
